Wolves Face Warriors in Key GPAC Football Game

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Two teams aiming for their first conference victory of the season are set to tangle on Saturday afternoon as the Nebraska Wesleyan University football team travels to Fremont, Neb., to face Midland University in a key Great Plains Athletic Conference game.  Kickoff between the Prairie Wolves and Warriors is set for 1 pm.

NWU enters the contest with a 1-2 overall record and 0-2 mark in the GPAC, while Midland is 0-4, 0-2 GPAC.  Both teams are trying to avoid an 0-3 start to league play.

The Nebraska Wesleyan offense needs to get going this week being held to 10 points or less in each of the last two games.  They will be facing a Warrior defense that is allowing 41.0 points a game so far this year.

Midland, which has lost 12 straight games and 10 consecutive GPAC games, features one of the top passing attacks in the league. The Warrior quarterback leads the GPAC in passing yards and ranks 6th in the NAIA at just under 300 yards a game.  Nebraska Wesleyan's defense has given up 727 yards through the air in their past two games.

Last season, NWU had a thrilling 37-30 comeback victory at Midland scoring the game-winning touchdown in the final minutes on a hook & lateral play.
