LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Nebraska Wesleyan baseball kept their conference record at .500 on the year as the Prairie Wolves split a GPAC doubleheader with Concordia University on Friday afternoon (Apr. 3) at NWU Field in Lincoln. The Bulldogs shutout the Prairie Wolves 6-0 in game one, then NWU bounced back for a 4-3 win in the nightcap.
With the split, Nebraska Wesleyan moves to 7-14 overall and 3-3 in GPAC play. Concordia is also 3-3 in GPAC and 19-9 overall.
Facing the Bulldogs top pitcher who entered the game with an ERA under 1.00, the Prairie Wolves got ahead early in game two. After Concordia took the initial 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st, NWU responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning.

The Prairie Wolves added two more runs in the bottom of the 3rd on three hits in the inning.Â
Sam Ayars tripled to lead off the inning then scored on a sacrifice fly by Korsakas.Â
Matt Orozco drove in the other run with a single to make the score 4-1.
Concordia added one run in the top of the 5th and another in the top of the 8th, but NWU pitching held on for the win.
Jordan Haas got his first win of the season working five innings allowing two runs on four hits.Â
Shane Watteyne pitched the final four innings to record the save. Watteyne allowed just three hits and one run with four strikeouts out of the bullpen.
Six different NWU players recorded a hit in the game as they finished with six total hits.
Concordia pitcher Jaydee Jurgensen was the story of game one as he dominated the Prairie Wolves hitters. Jurgensen struck out nine and allowed just two hits in the complete game shutout victory.
The Bulldogs pounded out 12 hits in the game to cruise to the win.
Nebraska Wesleyan will be right back in action on Saturday afternoon as they host Midland University in a GPAC doubleheader.
