LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska Wesleyan had more errors than runs as Buena Vista rolled past the Prairie Wolves 15-3 in the final game of the three game series on Sunday afternoon.
The Beavers pounded out 16 hits, scoring 11 runs in the final three innings of the game to put it out of reach.
NWU (3-5) trailed just 4-2 heading into the 7th inning but BVU scored three runs in both the 7th and 8th inning before adding five in the 9th.
The Beavers opened the game with two runs in the top of the 1st inning. NWU cut the lead in half with a single run in the home half of the inning.Â
Sam Ayars got an infield single, stole second moved to third on a passed ball and scored on a wild pitch.
Trailing 4-1, the Prairie Wolves added another run in the 4th inning.Â
Chase Powers singled and later scored on a fielding error by the Beavers.
Buena Vista's Tanner Truesdell had a huge day going 4-4 at the plate with two RBI. Bryce Wessels hit a HR and had four RBI.
Nolan Lott took the loss for the Prairie Wolves allowing seven runs, with only three earned. He struck out five in 6 2/3 innings. Three NWU relief pitchers then allowed five earned runs in the the final 2 1/3.
