LINCOLN, Neb. -- The 2014-15 women's basketball season came to a close for Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday as the Prairie Wolves dropped a 72-65 decision to Mount Marty College on Senior Day at Snyder Arena in Lincoln.
NWU finishes the season 2-25, 0-20 in GPAC play.
It looked good early for the Prairie Wolves as they led by 10 points in the first half. That lead was upheld until the 4:06 mark of the first half. The Lancers chipped away and pulled within one point 35-34 at the break.
In the second half the two teams traded leads to begin the start of the half. NWU led 42-40 with 16:31 to play and that would be their final lead of the contest.
Mount Marty got ahead by as many as nine points with just over four minutes remaining. The Prairie Wolves did not go away and a jumper from
Courtney Cook pulled NWU within three points at 68-65 with 1:54 left.
Mount Marty was unable to score two straight possessions, but NWU also came up empty on two missed shots.
Courtney Cook had a game-high 24 points to lead Nebraska Wesleyan. She also pulled down nine rebounds in the game.Â
Felicia TeKolste was the other Prairie Wolves player in double figures with 16 points.
Mount Marty was led by Alex Kneeland with 19 points.
