Women Clinch Postseason Spot With 2-0 Victory

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Laurel Heskett and Hallie Schimenti each scored a goal to give Nebraska Wesleyan University a 2-0 victory on Senior Day over Dakota Wesleyan in the final regular season women's soccer match of the season on Saturday (Oct. 31) at Abel Stadium.

With the victory, the Prairie Wolves clinch a spot in the 2015 GPAC Postseason Tournament as they improve to 9-8 overall and 6-5 in conference play and snapped their four-match losing streak  Official pairings for the GPAC Tournament will be released on Saturday night with the first round match to take place on Thursday (Nov. 5).

Schimenti scored the first goal in the 23rd minute on an assist by Laurel Heskett.  The 1-0 lead would hold up at intermission with the Prairie Wolves holding the one goal advantage.

NWU used another goal from Heskett in the second half during the 61st minute.  This time, Heskett took a pass from Katelin Blosser after a corner kick to put the Prairie Wolves up 2-0.

The 2-0 lead would hold up as the Prairie Wolves recorded yet another shutout on the year.  Madi Francis had three saves on the day and faced 10 total shots.

Nebraska Wesleyan recognized its four senior players at the conclusion of the match as they played their final regular season game in Abel Stadium.
