NWU Women Earn #7 Seed in GPAC Tournament

First Postseason Appearance Since 1999

SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- The Nebraska Wesleyan University women's soccer team received the No. 7 seed in the 2015 GPAC Postseason Women's Soccer Tournament when the pairings were announced on Saturday (Oct. 31).

NWU will face the No. 2 seed, Morningside College, in the opening round of the tournament.  The Prairie Wolves and Mustangs will meet on Thursday, Nov. 5 in Sioux City, Iowa at 7 pm.

The winner of the NWU-Morningside match will face the winner of No. 3 Northwestern vs. No. 6 Dordt on Tuesday, Nov. 10 in the GPAC Semifinals.  The GPAC Championship match is set for Friday, Nov. 13.

The winner of the GPAC Regular Season & Tournament will both advance, as the league's automatic representatives, to the NAIA National Women's Soccer National Championship Opening Round (on Saturday, November 21).  The GPAC is allotted two automatic berths because the conference has 12 NAIA teams in the postseason.

This is the first time that Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer has played in a postseason tournament since 1999, when they took part in the NIAC Conference Tournament.  NWU declared NAIA for postseason in 2015, meaning they were eligible for the GPAC Postseason Tournament for the first time since the league began in 2000.

Morningside won the first meeting between the two teams, 3-2, on Oct. 17 in Lincoln.
