NWU Women Split Matches on Weekend Trip

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The Nebraska Wesleyan University women's soccer team played a pair of 1-0 matches on their weekend trip to the St. Louis area.  NWU defeated Principia 1-0 on Friday night, then dropped their first match of the season with a 1-0 loss at Fontebonne.

NWU (3-1) posted their third straight shutout in the victory over Principia on Friday.  The match was suspended for one hour in a weather delay, but that didn't bother the strong Prairie Wolves defense.  Madi Francis recorded seven saves and got her third shutout on the season in goal.

The Prairie Wolves got their lone goal of the match in the 52nd minute as Hallie Schimenti connected on a penalty kick.  That was the only goal for either team on the night as NWU came away with the 1-0 win.

Nebraska Wesleyan looked to earn their fourth straight win on Saturday afternoon, but the winning streak came to an end as Fontbonne earned the 1-0 win.  Kelly Hobbs scored the only goal of the match in the 79th minute to give Fontbonne the win.  That is the first and only goal the Prairie Wolves have allowed all season.

NWU had eight total shots in the match, compared to nine for FU.  Two of the shots were on goal for the Prairie Wolves, but they couldn't find the open net.
