NWU Welcomes #3 Morningside For Home Opener

(NWU Game Notes)
LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska Wesleyan's rigorous football schedule continues this weekend as the Prairie Wolves make their home debut by hosting #3 Morningside College on Saturday (Sept. 13).  Kickoff between the Prairie Wolves and Mustangs is set for 1 p.m.

NWU begins Great Plains Athletic Conference play this Saturday against the three-time reigning conference champion and preseason pick to win the GPAC in 2014, Morningside.  The Prairie Wolves struggled in their season opener falling 36-0 at #8 Tabor in Hillsboro, Kan.

The third-ranked Mustangs proved why they are one of the top teams in the NAIA in 2014 as they began the year with an impressive 56-14 win at Valley City State in North Dakota. Morningside score a TD on each of their first six offensive possessions and led 43-0 at halftime and rolled to the win posting 596 yards of total offense.

NWU looks to rebound this week in all three phases of the game.  The Prairie Wolves allowed 400 yards rushing on the defensive side of the ball, were held scoreless on offense and missed two field goals and fumbled in special teams in the loss at Tabor.  They will be challenged again this Saturday by the Mustangs who defeated NWU 48-10 last season in Sioux City.

A student tailgate party will be held in Chaffee Field prior to kickoff and a special announcement will be made at halftime.

Saturday's game can be heard on KFOR 1240 am or a live video webcast can be seen through the NWU Sports Network.
