Box Score LINCOLN, Neb -- Nebraska Wesleyan scored their first goal less than three minutes in to the match and they would not look back the rest of the way as the Prairie Wolves defeated Westminster, 4-0, in the home opener for the NWU women on Saturday afternoon (Aug. 30) at Abel Stadium.
Ashlee Slade scored a pair of goals to pace the Prairie Wolves on the day. Slade opened the scoring in the second minute as she found herself wide open in front of the net off a pass from
Amber Johnson.
Shannon Surber got in the scoring act in the 11th minute on an assist by
Makensie Thaller to give NWU a 2-0 lead at halftime.
The Prairie Wolves scored two more goals in the second half.Â
Amber Johnson took a pass from Surber to score her first goal of the season. The final goal came by Slade as she broke away from the pack and scored on a break.
NWU finished with 18 total shots, compared to only three by Westminster.
