Box Score Nebraska Wesleyan led by one point at halftime by was outscored by 14 points in the second half as Mount Marty College defeated the Prairie Wolves 76-63 in GPAC women's basketball action in Yankton, S.D.
It was the final game of the 2013-14 season for Nebraska Wesleyan women as they finish the year 2-23 overall and 1-19 in GPAC play.
NWU held a 30-29 advantage at halftime with the Prairie Wolves hitting 39.1 percent from the field compared to 36.0 for the Lancers. Mount Marty did make 4-10 from 3-point range, while NWU was held without a 3-poiter in the first half.
Mount Marty took the lead in the first minute of the game and never trailed again. NWU went over five minutes in the second half without a point. The Lancers built up a 50-39 lead and never looked back.
The Prairie Wolves made one late run in the final two minutes.Â
Courtney Cook stole the ball and went full court for a layup to pull within 66-60 with 2:20 left. Mount Marty scored on their next two possessions and NWU committed two turnovers in their attempt to get closer.
Cook led all scorers with 24 points. She was 8-14 from the field and 8-10 at the free throw stripe.Â
Stacy Beller came off the bench to score a career-high 15 points. Briget Bucher also scored in double figures with 11 points and seven rebounds.
Holly Hegge paced the Lancers with 21 points.
