Football Closes Season at Hastings

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Nebraska Wesleyan University football team will close out the 2014 season this Saturday (Nov. 15) as they travel to Hastings, Neb., to face Hastings College in the last game of the year.  Kickoff between the Prairie Wolves and Broncos is set for 1 pm at Lloyd Wilson Stadium.

NWU looks to end the year with three straight victories to finish with a .500 record and find themselves in at least a tie for fourth place in the GPAC standings for the third straight year.  Nebraska Wesleyan improved to 4-5 overall and 4-4 in GPAC play with a 37-30 comeback win at Midland University last Saturday in Fremont.  The Prairie Wolves used a hook and latter play in the final minute to complete the comeback as they once trailed 24-3 in the first half.

Hastings College is 5-4 overall and tied with NWU at 4-4 in the GPAC standings.  The Broncos are also looking to finish in the top four of the conference after a disappointing 2-8 season in 2013.  Hastings won at Dordt 30-21 last Saturday to guarantee at least a .500 season.  The Broncos have lost three straight home games, with their lone home win coming in the opener against Concordia.

Both teams feature high powered offenses going against defenses that rank at the bottom of the GPAC.  The offenses could be affected by the potential for poor weather conditions in Hastings on game day.
