LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska Wesleyan scored two second half goals and held the Defenders scoreless as the Prairie Wolves shoutout Dordt College, 2-0, in women's soccer Saturday night (Nov. 1) at Abel Stadium.
With the win, NWU finishes the 2014 regular season with a winning record of 8-6-3 overall and 4-4-2 in GPAC play.
Going against the win in the first 45 minutes, the Prairie Wolves did not have a shot attempt. Dordt attempted four total shots but couldn't get a goal as
Madi Francis recorded three first half saves.
Early in the second half, NWU got on the board as senior
Rachel Gordon lighted up the scoreboard. Gordon scored on an assist from
Bayleigh Collins as she sent a pass directly in front of the net to connect with Gordon.
In the 76th minute,
Ashlee Slade gave the Prairie Wolves a 2-0 cushion as she added another goal. Slade had a breakaway, and juked the Dordt goalie to put the ball in the wide open net.
Nebraska Wesleyan finished with just five total shots, but they made the most of the shots to end the season on a positive note.
