LINCOLN, Neb. -- Briar Cliff scored two first half goals and held on as the Chargers shutout Nebraska Wesleyan University, 2-0, in GPAC women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 18) at Abel Stadium in Lincoln, Neb.
The Chargers improve to 9-2-2 overall and 3-1-2 in GPAC to remain ahead of the Prairie Wolves in the league standings as NWU falls to 7-5-2, 3-3-1 in GPAC.
Nebraska Wesleyan actually out shot Briar Cliff 12-9 for the match but could not convert any on the shots into scores. Kalynn Sortino recorded six saves for the Chargers in goal.
In the 20th minute, Briar Cliff got the first score of the match with a goal from McKayla Wessling. It was just over five minutes later that the Chargers added another goal. Brooke Romar put the ball in the open net off an assist from McKayla Wessling as Wessling finished the match with a goal and assist.
