CRETE, Neb. - Three different Nebraska Wesleyan players scored goals in the match as the Prairie Wolves went on the road and defeated Doane College, 3-1, in a GPAC women's soccer match on Wednesday night (Oct. 1) in Crete, Neb.
With the victory, the Prairie Wolves improve to 2-1 in conference play and 6-3-1 overall while Doane falls to 2-6-1 overall and winless in the GPAC at 0-2-1.
Makensie Thaller got the scoring started for the Prairie Wolves with a goal in the 21'. Thaller scored on an assist from
Rachael Granville for the only goal of the first period. NWU did have 10 total shots in the first half, but managed just the one goal.
In the second half,
Ashlee Slade added to the NWU lead with a goal in the 51'. Once again it was Granville who was in on the assist of the goal. Doane finally got on the board later in the second half as Meghan Voigt scored in the 72nd minute to pull the Tigers within one goal.
Nebraska Wesleyan added another goal to seal the win in the 81st minute as
Shannon Surber scored off an assist from
Katelin Blosser and
Meghan Witcig.
The Prairie Wolves will look to continue to climb up the GPAC standings this weekend when they travel to Orange City, Iowa to face Northwestern College on Saturday.
