One of best collegiate runners in Nebraska history and in the United States joined the Nebraska Wesleyan cross country / track and field programs in August of 2025. After a decorated career at the University of Nebraska-Kearney, Wes Ferguson will begin his duties as an assistant coach for the Prairie Wolves.

As an athlete at UNK, Ferguson was a 5 x NCAA DII National champion in the 800 and a 9 x NCAA All-American. During the 2024 season, he was named the USTFCCCA National Track athlete of the year in DII. He has collegiate personal bests of 1:45.46 (800). 1:19.96 (600), and 4:03.70 (mile).

Professionally, Ferguson picked up the bronze at the 2025 USA Indoor Championships hitting a lifetime best of 1:44.92. In the summer of 2024, Ferguson made it to the semi finals of the Olympic trials in the 800.

Ferguson is a graduate of Fremont Senior High School in Fremont, Nebraska. He received his Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from the University of Nebraska-Kearney in May of 2024.
