LINCOLN, Neb. (February 26, 2024) The 17
th-ranked Nebraska Wesleyan University men's basketball team is set to travel to San Antonio, Texas, for the 2024 NCAA Division III First and Second Round play on Friday-Saturday, March 1-2, at Calgaard Gym on the campus of Trinity University.
The Prairie Wolves and Centenary (LA) (17-11) will square off in first round action, while Trinity (TX) (23-3) takes on Texas-Dallas (18-9) in the second game. The winners of the two first-round games will meet on Saturday with a chance to advance to the NCAA sectionals. All game times are still to be determined.
Nebraska Wesleyan (23-4, 13-3 American Rivers Conference) won their fifth conference regular season title but fell short in an overtime loss to Loras College in the American Rivers Conference tournament. The Prairie Wolves are making their 18
th NCAA III Tournament appearance. The Prairie Wolves have made five NCAA III Final Four appearances, winning the 2018 NCAA III National Championship and finishing as the runner-up in 1997.
Centenary (LA) won the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA III Tournament. The Gents are led by senior forward Seth Thomas (16.2 ppg) and are going to the NCAA III Tournament for the first time since the 2019-20 season.
This will be the first time Nebraska Wesleyan and Centenary (LA) meet each other.
