LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan track & field teams took part in a pair of meets over the weekend to continue to ramp up their performances during the indoor season. NWU had a majority of their athletes at the Fred Beile Classic on Feb. 7 at Doane University while others took part in the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational that was held Feb. 7-8 at the Devaney Center in Lincoln.
At the Frank Sevigne Invite, the Prairie Wolves saw the men's 4x400 relay run a season best time that moved them up the NCAA III performance charts.
Lucas Arps,
Michael Merical,
Marcus Thimm and
Kyle Dickinson ran a time of 3:18.89 which ranks them 8
th in NCAA III this season.
Also at the Sevigne Invite, two male distance runners posted personal best times.
Andy Vasquez ran 4:20.56 in the mile and
Preston Decker had a time of 15:57.81 in the 5,000.
The NWU women's 4x400 relay also had a season best time when
Aspen Rolfes,
Reagan Janzen,
Megan Carley and
Camryn Larsen ran 4:00.19 at the Sevigne Invite. That ranks them 20
th on the NCAA III performance charts.
A pair of Prairie Wolves throwers made their way on the NWU all-time charts with their performances at the Fred Beile Classic.
Seth Knapp had a personal best mark of 54-4.75 in the men's weight throw to move to 7
th all-time while Linnea Konfrst threw 50-7.25 in the women's weight throw for 8
th best in school history.
Next weekend the Prairie Wolves teams travel to the Grinnell Invite where they will compete against several NCAA III schools and try for a team title in the scored event.
