Women 3rd, Men 4th at A-R-C Indoor Track & Field Championships

DECORAH, Iowa – The Nebraska Wesleyan men finished 4th and the women were 3rd at the 2020 American Rivers Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships that concluded on Saturday (Feb. 29) in Decorah, Iowa at Luther College.
 
Loras won the men's team title with 161 team points, followed by Wartburg with 147. Dubuque just edged out NWU with 88 points compared to 86 for the Prairie Wolves.  Wartburg won the women's team title with 211 points, followed by Loras at 174.  NWU scored 83 points on the women's side.
 
NWU had one individual champion on the men's side with Seth Knapp winning the weight throw to get the day off to a good start.  Knapp threw a lifetime best mark of 57-1 to win the event and move up to 4th on the NWU all-time charts.  Teammates Jared Pohlmann and Andrew Davis were also in the top eight to earn team points.  Pohlmann was 4th and Davis 6th.
 
Trent Koehler was the conference runner-up in the men's triple jump with a distance of 44-4 for his second All-Conference award of the meet.  He just missed adding another one by placing 5th in the 55 meter dash running 6.59.
 
The other NWU individual to earn All-Conference honors on Saturday was Kyle Dickinson in the 400 meter dash.  Dickinson rank 49.55 to place 3rd with teammate Ben Christenson taking 6th.
 
To close the meet, the Prairie Wolves 4x400 relay team was the conference runner-up in a time of 3:21.17.  Running on the team to earn All-Conference were Michael Merical, Christenson, Dickinson and Gabe Anderson.
 
On the women's side, no individuals were in the top three to earn All-Conference on Saturday but there were several top individual marks. 
 
They did have runners earn All-Conference as part of relay teams with the 4x800 finishing as the conference runner-up.  Running on the team were Rylee Bahe, Reagan Janzen, Allie McLuen and Camryn Larsen.
 
Ellie Beiermann finished 4th in the mile with a time of 5:11.80 then came back later in the day to place 6th in the 3,000 running 10:25.20.  Madi Bahe was 6th in the mile run for the NWU women.
 
Aspen Rolfes also scored points in two different events taking 4th in the 200 meters in a time of 25.59, the was 8th in the 400 running 59.56.  She also ran the anchor on the 4x400 relay that was 4th.
 
In the field events, Addy Vinton tied for 5th in the women's high jump clearing 5-0.75 and the Prairie Wolves had two placers in the triple jump with Tessa Hoffman taking 6th and Aleen Souvannavong in 7th.
