GRINNELL, Iowa – Nebraska Wesleyan won the team title for both the men and women at the 2020 Darren Young Indoor Classic hosted by Grinnell College.
The Prairie Wolves had three athletes named outstanding performers of the meet. They swept the women's honor with
Aspen Rolfes winning women's track athlete of the meet and
Dayton Dolincheck getting women's field athlete of the meet. Rolfes won the 200 meters breaking a meet record of 25.78. She was also 2
nd in the 60 and ran on the 3
rd place 4x400 relay team. Dolincheck won the shot put and placed 4
th in the weight throw.
Trent Koehler was named the men's field athlete of the week for winning both the long jump and triple jump.
NWU won five individual events on the women's side. In four of the five events, the Prairie Wolves went 1-2 in the event. They finished with 199 team points, over 100 points more than second place Bethel.
Besides Rolfes winning the 200, she was 2
nd in the 60 behind teammate
Maddie Moran who ran a 7.90 to win the event.
Camryn Larsen won the 800 in a time of 2:21.48 as the other NWU winner on the track.
Haleigh Benson took 1
st place in the long jump with a mark of 16-5.25.
Tessa Hoffman was 2
nd in the event and was 3
rd in the triple jump. Dolincheck won the shot put ahead of teammate
Linnaea Konfrst.
Nebraska Wesleyan men had six winners on the day to score 171.50 team points, followed by Central with 99.
Koehler was the only double winner on the day taking the title in the long and triple jump.
Jared Pohlmann won the weight throw with a toss of 57-2.25 as NWU had the top three finishers in the event.
On the track,
Lucas Arps won the 400 meters in a time of 50.10, edging out teammate
Kyle Dickinson. Those two runners joined
Michael Merical and
Ben Christenson to place 2
nd in the 4x400 relay.
In the distance medley relay, the Prairie Wolves won the event with
Mason Coulter,
Angeleau Scott,
Max Bolke and
Norbert Weijenberg teaming up to run 11:00.08.
Reese Hennerberg was the other individual winner in the 60 hurdles. He ran 8.30 to win the event ahead of teammate
Marshall Chasek who took 2
nd.
