LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Wesleyan University track & field teams hosted the annual Prairie Wolf Indoor Invitational on Friday (Jan. 24) at the Devaney Center track. Athletes from 15 different schools competed in the meet from all levels of competition.
NWU had several top level performances with athletes setting new personal bests or finishing at the top of their respective events.
For the Prairie Wolves men, the sprints were the most successful on the day. Freshman
Lucas Arps had a big day placing 4
th in the 400 with a time of 49.40 to move to 10
th on the NWU all-time charts. He came back later in the day to run 22.76 in the 200 for 8
th place.
In the 60 hurdles,
Reese Hennerberg placed 2
nd running 8.37, while teammate
Marshall Chasek improved his time to 8.40 finishing 3
rd.
Matt Winter was the lone winner for the Prairie Wolves, placing 1
st in the triple jump. He also made the finals in the 60 and was 6
th place.
Jared Pohlman led the field events, taking 5
th in the weight throw with a mark of 51-7.25.
On the women's side, four different athletes placed 2
nd in their respective events.
Dayton Dolincheck, last week's conference athlete of the week, was 2
nd in the shot put with a mark of 42-5.5. She also finished 3
rd in the weight throw with a distance of 51-3.75. Joining Dolincheck in the shot put were two other teammates in the top five.
Linnaea Konfrst placed 4
th and
Jaycee Fleming 5
th in the shot.
Maddie Tolly cleared 11-3.0 to tie for 2
nd in the women's pole vault.
In the track events, the Prairie Wolves were especially dominant in a pair of races. In the Mile,
Ellie Beiermann placed 2
nd running 5:15.74 with
Madi Bahe taking 3
rd at 5:18.28. Four runners placed in the top five in the 800 led by
Camryn Larsen in 2
nd place running 2:23.27.
Reagan Janzen was 3
rd,
Rylee Bahe 4
th and
Allie McLuen 5
th in the race.
Aspen Rolfes ran a solid time of 1:00.35 in the 400 to finish 4
th while also making the finals in the 60.
The Prairie Wolves track & field teams are back in action next Friday at the Concordia Classic.
