Taci Laws (Pleasant Dale, Neb.) was the first player to earn All-America recognition for the Nebraska Wesleyan women’s basketball program. She led NWU in scoring three times and was the team’s top rebounder all four years of her career.
Laws earned 1st-Team All-NIAC honors at center as a junior and senior in 1994 and 1995. She was 1st-Team All NCAA Division III West Region in the 1993-94 season, the same year she earned honorable mention Kodak NCAA III All-American honors.
She averaged a double-double of 15.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game as a senior in 1994-95 to lead NWU in both categories. It was the second straight year she averaged a double-double in a year, putting up 13.4 points and an NIAC best 10.4 rebounds in her junior year.
During her four seasons, Laws scored 1,147 career points becoming just the fourth NWU women’s basketball player to top 1,000 points when she graduated. Her 874 career rebounds still rank 2nd on the NWU all-time charts. She holds two of the best single season rebound totals and made 312 career free throws to rank third all-time.
