Scott Votava (’78) was a four-year letterwinner in football and baseball for the Plainsmen. He was named the football team’s Most Promising Freshman and led the team in punt returns three times and interceptions twice. He finished his career second on the all-time interceptions list with 10 and was a two-time All-NIAC selection as a defensive back. On the baseball field, Votava was a member of the Wesleyan teams that won 35 consecutive NIAC games, three conference titles and made two trips to the NCAA Division III Championships. He was selected First-Team All-NIAC shortstop in 1974 and 1976. Votava switched to third base in 1977 and again was all-conference. He compiled a .305 career batting average while setting school records in career at-bats with 380, 95 runs scored and 189 assists. Votava also graduated as Wesleyan’s leader with 15 career home runs and was second with 56 stolen bases and 24 career doubles.
