Sara (Kunneman) Carlson graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2002 as a standout soccer player. She was named GPAC Player of the Year in 2000, leading the team in goals and points. She earned all-conference honors three times: first-team All-NIAC in 1998 and first-team All-GPAC in 2000 and 2001. In 1998, Kunneman was named NIAC Rookie of the Year with 21 goals and seven assists. She also earned second-team all-region honors and was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America first-team. Kunneman sits second on NWU’s all-time charts in career goals (62) and third in career points (146). In 2002, Kunneman was honored as the Nebraska Wesleyan University Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year.
