Sandy Shaneyfelt (Omaha, Neb.) was part of the first four women’s soccer teams in Nebraska Wesleyan history and helped build the team to a championship program.
Shaneyfelt was a two-time All-American earning NAIA honorable mention in both 1995 and 1996. She earned First-Team Great Plains All-Region honors twice and was NSCAA Midwest All-Region and All-NIAC her senior season in 1996.
As a senior, Shaneyfelt ranked sixth in the NAIA in assists per game helping the Plainsmen to a school record 20 victories, a NIAC regular season and tournament championship and a trip to the NAIA regional semifinals.
A Millard South High School graduate, Shaneyfelt graduated from NWU ranked second all-time in assists and third all-time in goals scored. Her 62 career assists still rank second all-time on the NWU all-time charts. She has two of the top single season assist totals in school history.
Shaneyfelt is the only NWU women’s soccer player to be a two-time GTE Academic All-American earning Second-Team in 1995 and First-Team in 1996.
Following graduation, Shaneyfelt served as an assistant soccer coach for one season and served as interim head coach in 1999 guiding the team to a NIAC Championship.
