Professor of Health and Human Performance Pat (Dotson) Pettit has been a major contributor to the success of Nebraska Wesleyan athletics and academics. After arriving on campus in 1980 as a professor, Pettit was named cheerleading sponsor, assistant softball coach, honorary coach for basketball, and assistant volleyball coach. In 1985, she accepted her first full-time coaching position at NWU as the head volleyball coach. Pettit led the NWU volleyball program until 1990, posting a 151-82 record across five years. Since her coaching career, Pettit has stayed heavily involved in athletics, serving on several committees. In 2016, she was named NWU’s Faculty Athletics Representative to the American Rivers Conference. Pettit has helped 17 student-athletes earn NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships.
