Starting at center for the NWU men’s basketball team during one of their most successful runs in program history, Nate Thomas (Henderson, Neb.) was a dominating force in the paint for the Plainsmen.  The 6’6 center earned NCAA III honorable mention All-American honors in 1998. 
 
Thomas was a two-time 1st-Team All-NIAC selection and was named to the All-West Region 1st-Team as a senior in 1998.  He also earned honorable mention All-NIAC and All-West Region in 1996. 
 
As a junior, Thomas helped lead NWU to the NCAA III National Championship game, posting a season-best 24 points and 12 rebounds in the title game against Illinois Wesleyan.  He finished the season ranked 14th in all of NCAA III in field goal percentage (62.4%).
 
In his senior season, he was the leading scorer for the Plainsmen as they were the No. 1 ranked team in the nation winning the first 23 games of the year.  Thomas averaged 19.1 points and 8.4 rebounds in his senior year. 
 
Thomas set the school record for career field goal percentage, making 64.4% of his attempts during his four-year career.  He has three of the top five single season field goal percentages in school history.  He finished his career with 1,342 points to sit 14th all-time, while his 716 rebounds still rank 7th best in school history.
