An All-Conference performer in both basketball and baseball, Mitch Mosser (Ralston, Neb.) has his name all over the all-time charts in both sports.
Mosser was the point guard for the Plainsmen basketball team from 1993-98, starting for three seasons. A First-Team Division III All-American and All-West Region selection in 1996-97, Mosser led NWU to the NCAA III National Championship game his junior season. As a senior, Mosser was 1st-Team All-NIAC and ranked in the top five of the NCAA in assists as NWU climbed to No. 1 in the national rankings.
He left NWU as the career record holder in assists with 610, a mark that still stands today. He connected on 159 3-pointers for his career to rank third all-time, while his 139 career steals still ranks fourth all-time. He still holds the record for assists in a game with 15 against Hastings in 1997 and Northwestern in 1998.
Finishing with 1,074 career points, Mosser was a two-time All-West Region and All-NIAC selection earning First-Team All-Conference as a senior.
On the baseball diamond, Mosser was a standout at the plate and in the infield earning three All-NIAC awards with two First-Team honors. In 1996, he led the team and the NIAC batting .477, the third highest average in NWU history. He was Second-Team All-Midwest Region in 1994 and 1996 as a shortstop. His .439 average in ’94 ranks eighth all-time and he is one of four players in NWU history with a career average over .400.
