James Kernan ('88) - Football
James Kernan was one of the top players on the defensive side of the football for Nebraska Wesleyan in the 1980s. Kernan was a four-year letterwinner from 1983-1986. Currently, his 11 sacks in 1994 ranks second all-time for a season and his 22 career sacks ranks fourth on the all-time charts. Kernan is sixth in career tackles with 303 and ninth for season tackles with 132 in 1985.
He was a three-time All-NIAC selection during his career. Kernan earned first-team honors in 1985 and 1986 and was tabbed with honorable mention accolade in 1984.
