Grant Varveris earned Honorable Mention NAIA All American, First Team All-NIAC honors as a tight end in 1998 after leading the Prairie Wolves in receptions, receiving yards and serving as a key red zone target with six touchdowns on the year. Varveris also earned honorable mention recognition in 1996. Varveris finished his career ranked ninth in school history in receptions, becoming one of the most reliable pass catchers of his era. Known for his consistency and toughness over the middle, he helped anchor NWU’s offense back to its winning ways in the late 90’s. Grant and his wife Mary have two children, Marisa and Michael. Grant is currently a principal in the Chicago Public Schools.
