A standout on the field and in the classroom, Dusten Olds (Alliance, Neb.) was a true NWU student-athlete setting passing records at quarterback while earning Academic All-America honors.
Olds was 1st-Team All-NIAC quarterback as a senior in 1997 and honorable mention All-NIAC his other two seasons as the starting signal caller. He finished his career with 483 pass completions to set the school record with a mark that still ranks second today. As a three-year starter, Olds passed for 5,300 yards with 43 career touchdowns.
He became the first Nebraska Wesleyan football player to earn a $18,000 postgraduate scholarship from the National Football Foundation at a banquet in New York. He also won a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and was a Burger King Vincent Draddy Scholar Athlete.
As a senior, Olds was named 2nd-Team Academic All-American as he passed for 1,854 yards with 21 touchdowns. He led the NIAC in passing as a junior and was named the NAIA National A.O. Duer Award winner as the nation’s outstanding student-athlete. A three-time Academic All-District selection, Olds was 1st-Team in 1995 and 1997.
