With multiple conference titles in different sports, Dr. Rick Harley has made a lasting mark on the Nebraska Wesleyan athletic department. Currently in his 10th season as the head tennis coach for the Prairie Wolves, Harley has led the NWU tennis teams to 11 Great Plains Athletic Conference tiles since taking over the program in 2004.

Dominance is the one word to describe Harley’s tenure with the Prairie Wolves at the conference level. In his nine seasons, he has a combined record of 113-18 for a winning percentage of 86.3% against GPAC competition. His NWU women’s teams have gone undefeated in five seasons, including a run of two straight seasons without losing a conference match.

He has led the women’s program to five NAIA National Tournaments, making the trip five of the past six seasons. Prior to Harley’s arrival, the NWU women had never made the postseason. He has guided the men’s team to two national tournaments. Another highlight of Harley’s tenure is the team’s annual spring break trip to Hilton Head, which he has organized.

Prior to taking over as head tennis coach, Harley had a successful run as head coach of the NWU women’s golf team. Under his direction, the Prairie Wolves won four conference titles in seven seasons. NWU only had two conference titles before Harley took over. He also coached the highest placing individual in golf history, coaching the 1999 NAIA National Runner-up.
