Ideus was an honorable mention All-American and 1st-team All West Region selection in his first season at NWU in 1996-97 leading the team to the NCAA III National Championship game.  He led the team in free throw percentage and scored a season-high 30 points in win over Division II Chaminade.  Ideus made the game-winning 3-pointer in the second round of the NCAA tournament and scored 21 points in the National Championship game.

He was a two-time All-Conference performer, earning 1st-Team All-NIAC in both seasons.  The Adams High School graduate averaged 16.9 points and 7.1 rebounds in his two seasons competing in two NCAA III National Tournaments and winning a pair of NIAC Championships.  As a senior he led NWU to a 23-0 start to the year and a No. 1 ranking.

A transfer from the University of Nebraska, Ideus was also selected CoSIDA 2nd-Team All-District as a senior in 1998.
