Carrie Broomfield (Doniphan, Neb.) became the first AVCA All-American in Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball history when she earned Second-Team All-America honors as a senior in 1996. Broomfield was a four-year letterwinner in volleyball for NWU from 1993-96.

Broomfield was a two-time AVCA All-Central Region selection earning the recognition during her junior and senior seasons. As a senior she recorded a then school record 591 kills, a mark that still ranks second in school history today. She earned First-Team All-NIAC honors in 1996 and was also named to the GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-District team. In 1995, Broomfield was Second-Team All-NIAC and was named the NIAC Player of the Week.

The Doniphan High School graduate ended her career with 1,199 career kills which still ranks eighth all-time at NWU. She helped NWU to three winning seasons during her playing days including a 23-12 record as a senior.

After graduation, Broomfield was named head volleyball coach at NWU and served as head coach for three seasons from 1998-2000 posting a record of 64-34 with a winning percentage of .653 which is the best percentage at NWU.
