Bill Luxford, operations manager at Lincoln City TV, has been the main catalyst for increased television media coverage of Nebraska Wesleyan University athletics.
Under Luxford’s direction, 21 Sports will be entering their 10th season of broadcasting NWU football on local cable TV. He has provided parents, alumni and fans a chance to view home NWU football games as well as given the university an opportunity to showcase their product to potential recruits in the Lincoln area on TV throughout the year.
Aside from football, 21 Sports has also broadcast several Prairie Wolves volleyball and men’s and women’s basketball games the past nine years. Luxford constantly brought visions of bigger and better game coverage, giving NWU athletes the feel of a big-time television production.
Luxford was the first to bring the idea of instant replay boards to Abel Stadium by providing a replay screen to a homecoming football game. His dream for a video replay board became a reality in 2008 when a permanent video screen and scoreboard were installed. His production crews now provide fans in-game instant replay and highlights unlike any other small college stadium in the country.
