Former NWU Soccer Player Weber Signs With Swedish Pro Team

LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan University graduate and former Prairie Wolves men's soccer standout Will Weber has signed a contract to play professional soccer in Sweden with Orebro Syrianska.

Weber was a four-year letterwinner in soccer at NWU from 2013-16 starting all four years as a defender.  As a senior he led NWU with eight goals while adding two assists.  He earned honorable mention All-Iowa Conference recognition.  It was the third straight season that Weber was an honorable mention All-Conference performer.  As a junior in 2015 he was named the All-Independent Defensive Player of the Year.

"Most of our players become professionals in things like medicine, business and education but for Will to be achieving his goal of being a professional athlete is extremely exciting and well deserved," NWU head coach Tudor Flintham remarked.  "If anyone was going to take that next step it was Will Weber.  He's not only gifted, but his hard work and dedication give him a real shot at doing something special with this.  P-Wolf nation will be cheering him on every step of the way."

The 23-year old Weber impressed Pro Soccer Consulting (PSC) coach Patrick Walker during the Showcase Tour of Malta and subsequently Walker recommended the defender to a number of Scandinavian clubs.  Weber signed with the Swedish Second Division outfied Orebro Syrianski.

"I'm really excited to have signed with Orebro Syrianska and to start a professional soccer career in Sweden," Weber said.  "I would like to thank all of my former teammates, coaches and others involved with NWU soccer over the years for helping make my time at NWU a great one.  I look forward to watching the Prairie Wolves program continue to grow under Coach Flintham and competing for championships in the future."

Weber, a native of Lincoln, Neb., earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Nebraska Wesleyan in December 2015.
